Welcome to the open road

Calling all dreamers, sun seekers and lovers of life....wanderlusters, freedom junkies, curiosity seekers and armchair travelers, too.

Joyrides of America celebrates the beauty of the American landscape and freedom of the open road through photography, stories and experiences. It's an online journal for wanderlusters, freedom junkies, daydreamers, curiosity seekers and armchair travelers.

Loaded with photography, you'll discover drives through stunning landscapes with excellent places to stop. You'll meet locals and fellow travelers with stories to tell, then eat and drink delicious culinary delights. And, of course — bring your best dog pal too!

As a full-time RVer, I've done a pretty good share of road-tripping and joyriding (see The Silver Snail, a travelogue of my first five years). Since my home is on wheels (see Trailer Life) and my work is mobile (see BluecatMedia.com and SharonPieniak.com), I have the flexibility to move frequently or stay for a long while. I'm a big fan of maps and alternate routes. I look for the individual pulse of America's places.

As I continue to travel, this site will expand.

Come with me.

"For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move."

 Robert Louis Stevenson, 1879
